Subject: News from Simplero: Being incompetent, faster Simplero, and now in Spanish, and you get to hear me sing

Dear Lovely Simplerista,

Something I'm intently occupied with these days is the willingness to be incompetent. We've spent so much effort to get to being competent at whatever we do, that sometimes we just want to avoid feeling incompetent ever again, because it's so annoying.

But being incompetent can be the greatest thing ever. It's what allows us to learn new things. It's what allows us to grow beyond where we are. If we'd been concerned with being incompetent as kids, we'd have never learned to walk.

That was going to be my introduction to sharing a video of me singing. Because I'm so scared that you'll judge me and find it awful or just bad or not worth listening to. Or maybe it'll permanently damage your ears, who knows.

And then it hit me: What if this is not mine to judge? What if my creative gifts aren't really "mine"? What if they're just stuff that are flowing through me, I'm just the vehicle, the faucet. Thinking of it that way frees me up to just share and be generous with my gift, and allow it to grow in strength and beauty, without having to suffer under my own constant criticism and judgment.

How does that feel to you?

I feel so passionately about this that I recorded a whole video just about that.

And here's a video of me singing Robin Williams' song Angels.

Only positive feedback, please. I have a long list of criticism all ready to go myself, don't really need help with that part :)

(If you're curious about my setup, well I shot a whole video about that, too.)

(And three more songs I recorded in the same flow.)

Phew!

:)

New Features in Simplero

Spanish translation is done. So if your audience is Spanish speaking, go for it!

Search inside spaces has been fixed, so it should now find everything perfectly each time. And it supports the full range of languages.

If you want to know exactly what you're paying for in transaction fees, you can now find out. Go to Settings > Plan and Billing, then View your billing history, and you can click the transaction fees to see a list of all the invoices covered by those fees.

Simplero has experienced another major speedup. We have a faster server, I fixed some things that were really slow on each requests, and now I've sped up how we load fonts, which is a really significant boost. I've added some compression, and eliminated some files on load. All in all, pretty darn significant. I hope you experience it too and enjoy it. Speed matters. When the app is faster, everything feels so much more satisfying. It makes you want to use the software more, make more money, and serve more people, better.

Hiring for Chief Marketing Genius

I'm going to hire someone to own the marketing and sales piece of the Simplero. If you're interested, make sure to put your name on the list by filling out the form on this page.

I'm still refining what the hiring process is going to be like, but you can put your name in the pot now if you want to. It's going to be part-time, growing to full-time, remote is OK, and US-based is a requirement. So if that's not a match for you, no need to apply.

Spiritlab site launched

I have a dream to create a conscious startup accelerator. It's called Spiritlab. It would be located in New York City, and we'd create awesome products and businesses.

Random Links from around the Interwebs

Adam Levine's music video was really awesome, despite the whole thing being staged.

This police officer singing Taylor Swift is awesome

Osho on the word fuck. Love it.

That's it for this week.

Have an amazing week, and talk to you later.

With love,
-Calvin
