Subject: News from Simplero: Exploring creativity

Hiya Lovely Simplerista,

Newsletter coming out later and later in the week. Oh, well. Maybe we'll shift it to Thursday or Friday. We'll see what the future holds.

This week was Wisdom 2.0 Business here in New York. It was a great moment when Wokie came over and said "Are you Calvin from Simplero?" It felt great. Doesn't happen often in this town, but hopefully it's an indicator of things to come.

Yesterday, my voice coach, Lorraine, totally blew my mind. I said I had no intention of being in the music industry. She just looked at me and said "uh-uh?". She wasn't having any of it. That hit me hard somewhere deep inside.

Afterwards I went to Meditation & Margaritas - a fabulous concept idea - and during a guided meditation I was reminded of my dream of singing in front of a large audience that are all singing along to a song I wrote. Boy, that would be incredible. Then I had a tarot reading where I asked about my music career, and the card say "Go Go Go!". When I got home I sat down and got started writing on a song idea I had.

Then this morning I woke up and a particular old Danish song that I never actually liked too much and can't remember the last time I heard, was for some reason on my mind. I found it on Youtube, but not in the original version. Rather I found this version, with Tina Dicow, which is much slower and softer. As I was listening to it, I just cried and cried and cried.

I don't know what that was about. It feels like the crumbling of a lot of old rules about who I am and what I'm allowed to do and what I'm capable of doing and what I can do creatively.

As I'm writing this I start to get really self-conscious. Is this sharing valuable to you? I hope it brings some value. Maybe it inspires you to pursue some of your hearts' desires.

News from the blog

Two blog posts this week.

First, I was interviewed by the Huffington Post Live about changing my ethnically sounding name to something more American sounding, where I got a chance to talk about numerology and other fun stuff. You can read and watch here.

And then a blog post about exercise as celebration, that I also landed during Meditation & Margaritas.

Want to interview me?

I love giving interviews, both in person and over Skype. Did another one today for the Breaking Down your Business podcast, which will probably air next week.

So if you would like to interview me for your blog or podcast, or have me appear at your event, just hit reply and let's do it.

New features in Simplero

We're ready to roll out the new marketing site and design facelift. Just waiting for me to have a full day to sit around and fix any issues that might show up. Most likely I'll do it tomorrow morning.

Fun links from around the interwebs

This 3D-printed paper airplane gun is badass.

The Kanye West Self-Confidence Generator. Invaluable.

Slate's new podcast "Working" is off to a hot start, interviewing Stephen Colbert about his daily work practice. It's a throwback to the amazing book Working by Studs Terkel, which I came across years ago in an indie bookstore in Seattle, and which inspired me so much I want to do a version for Denmark. I never got it done, but I love love love hearing about what people actually do day by day in their jobs, whatever it is. Working talks to a stripper (or was it a prostitute), a crime scene cleaner, a highway flagger, and all sorts of other jobs that you'd never imagine. And it's so hard to imagine what it's actually like without someone on the inside telling you. It's invaluable, and this podcast is an instant subscribe.

Have an amazing weekend and week.

Lots of love,
-Calvin
