Subject: Our visa was approved today!

Hi Lovely Simplerista

I'm not sure how much you know about my story, but in 1999 I moved from my native Denmark to New York city with my then-girlfriend. We were supposed to stay for a year, but I immediately fell in love with the country and knew that this is where I want to live the rest of my life. In the 15 years since then, that hasn't changed one bit.

But making that a reality has been a long way coming. I moved to Denmark, temporarily, and that turned to 9 years living life almost like an ex-pat American in Denmark. Most of the period I had no Danish customers, no Danish employees, no Danish media consumption. I was always on my way. And yet, I just didn't make it happen.

Until today, when our E-2 visa was approved. This picture is me and my wife outside the US Embassy ... a bit away, because they wouldn't let us take a picture right in front.

So you can probably understand that with today's approval, a lot of pent-up energy over a many many many years have finally been released.

Latest from the blog

It made me think about the process I've been through with regards to effort and manifestation, and that's what today's blog post is about.

New features in Simplero

It's still mostly summer, so no new big feature deployments in the past couple of weeks. But we're stacking them up for when I return to New York in a week.

Fun stuff from around the web

I hope you had a great July 4th. I came across this incredible collection of awful/awesome fireworks packaging. You've got to see them. I love graphic design when it's taken to extremes like this.

Also, this guy is really good at flipping pancakes.

And speaking of summer - last week I was away on summer camp with my kids and 61 other kids, and I was the designated "camp chief". Since I live in New York and my kids live and go to school in Copenhagen, I don't know that many people from their school, and this was a fun way to get to know everybody, kids and grownups alike.

And since I was the camp chief, I figured it would be fun to grow a little mustache for the occasion, and so I did.

I ended up shaving it off in front of everybody around the camp fire on Thursday night :)

So I'll leave you with this little treat of me right before shaving :)

Have a wonderful week. I'll catch you next week, right before flying back to New York!

With love and gratitude and relief and lots of celebratory feelings,
-Calvin
